What Happens in a Full Grooming Session at a Pet Spa

A full grooming session at our pet spa takes 2 to 3 hours and follows eleven steps: coat assessment, quote, bath, blow dry, de-shedding or de-matting if needed, face trim, nail trim, ear and paw care, styling, oral hygiene and finish. Your pet stays calm throughout because each step is handled slowly and checked with you.

Step 1: The coat assessment and quote

Every session starts before the water does. The groomer assesses the coat: breed, length, condition, mats, skin health, and how the dog reacts to being handled. This is where we set the honest quote. If the coat needs de-matting or extra time, you hear it now, not at the counter. You approve the price before any work begins.

Step 2: The bath

The bath loosens dirt, dust and the loose undercoat. We use breed-appropriate shampoo at a comfortable temperature, and dogs with sensitive skin or a vet-recommended product get exactly what was advised. The bath is also the first deep look at the skin, which is why we spot things like rashes or ticks here and tell you about them.

Step 3: The blow dry

This is the step home baths cannot copy. A high-velocity dryer reaches the undercoat and dries the coat to the skin, which prevents the damp-coat skin problems that Gurgaon's humidity causes. For double-coated breeds, the dryer doubles as the de-shedding tool: the loose undercoat blows out as the coat dries.

Step 4: De-shedding or de-matting

If your dog is a shedder, this is where the loose undercoat comes out. If there are mats, the groomer works them out gently, or tells you honestly when a matted coat needs to be shaved. Severely matted coats are never forced: we explain the options and you decide.

Steps 5 to 8: Face, nails, ears and paws

• Face trim: hair around the eyes and mouth tidied, which matters for Shih Tzus, Maltese and other long-haired breeds.
• Nail trim: to the correct length, avoiding the quick. Overgrown nails change a dog's walk and can split.
• Ear cleaning: gentle check and clean, which also surfaces early ear problems.
• Paw pad care: hair between the pads trimmed, pads checked for cracks or debris.

Steps 9 to 11: Styling, oral hygiene and finish

The styling step is the visible result: a breed-appropriate cut, from a clean Shih Tzu puppy cut to an Asian fusion style, finished with combing and a cologne spray. Oral hygiene cleaning and a final check complete the session. You collect a pet that is clean, dry, comfortable and exactly what you asked for, because we checked the style with you before and during the session.

How long a full session takes

A complete groom runs 2 to 3 hours depending on breed, coat and temperament. Small dogs with light coats are usually closer to two hours; a Labrador with a full de-shed or a heavily coated Shih Tzu can run longer. We never rush a nervous dog, and we never cut corners to hit a time target.

The waiting area at our Sector 109 studio is comfortable, you can watch the session through the glass panel, and the mall is there if you need to step out. We confirm by WhatsApp or phone when your pet is ready.

What to bring to the session

• Vaccination proof on the first visit.
• Your vet's product recommendation if a medicated bath is planned.
• Any medication or health notes we should know about.
• Nothing else: towels, shampoo, brushes and finishing products are all at the studio.

After the session: the first 24 hours

A freshly groomed coat needs little, but a few small rules keep the work lasting:

• Keep the dog indoors for a few hours if it is very hot or dusty outside, so the clean coat stays clean.
• Do not bathe again for at least a week; the coat's natural oils are part of the finish.
• Brush the coat the next day so the style settles evenly, especially for long-coated breeds.
• Check the ears and paws for any sign of irritation, though this is rare after a professional session.

If anything looks unusual after a groom, tell us. We would rather look at it and clear it than have you worry at home.
