De-shedding & Medicated Bath for Dogs in Gurgaon: When Your Dog Needs It

Does your Gurgaon dog shed all year? A high-velocity de-shedding session removes the loose undercoat in one visit, and a medicated bath helps itchy, irritated skin. Prices, timing and what to expect.

A de-shedding session in Gurgaon costs Rs 299 as an add-on to any groom, and a medicated bath is Rs 199 extra when your vet has recommended one. High-velocity de-shedding removes the loose undercoat in a single visit, cutting loose fur at home by up to 80% for double-coated breeds.

Why Gurgaon dogs shed more

Dogs shed for two reasons: the coat cycle and the climate. Gurgaon adds a third pressure. Heat makes double-coated breeds blow their undercoat over a longer window, dust works into the coat and skin, and the monsoon leaves coats damp longer, which is how irritation and odour start.

The result is the complaint we hear most from pet parents in Sector 109, Palam Vihar and Dwarka Expressway: the dog is fine, but the house is covered in fur for months. Bathing alone does not fix it, because a wet coat keeps the loose undercoat trapped underneath.

What a de-shedding session actually does

A de-shedding session is not a regular bath with extra brushing. It works like this:

  1. A warm bath loosens the undercoat and cleans dust from the skin.
  2. A high-velocity dryer blows the loose undercoat out of the coat while it is damp.
  3. The groomer works through the coat with de-shedding tools, removing what the dryer loosened.
  4. The session ends with the guard coat intact, so the dog keeps its natural protection.

The guard coat is never cut. That is what separates a proper de-shed from shaving, which we never do to double-coated breeds because it damages the coat's ability to regulate temperature.

A Golden Retriever or Husky in full shed leaves enough fur to knit a second dog. One de-shedding session removes the loose undercoat that would otherwise land on your sofa over the next two weeks.

When to book a de-shedding session

  • Your dog is blowing coat: fur everywhere, clumps coming out in the brush.
  • Twice a year for double-coated breeds, before the hot months and before the monsoon.
  • Before summer, so the undercoat does not trap heat.
  • Before a trip, so the car stays presentable and the dog travels cooler.

Between sessions, a weekly thorough brush at home extends the gap. Our breed guide explains the schedule for Shih Tzus, Goldens and Indies.

Medicated baths: for skin problems, not as a routine

A medicated bath uses a shampoo chosen for a specific skin condition, and it works best when a veterinarian has recommended the product. We do not diagnose skin problems, and we do not guess which medicated shampoo a dog needs. If your dog has persistent itching, redness, flaking or an odour, the first step is a vet, not a bath.

Once your vet has recommended a medicated bath, we apply the product correctly, leave it for the right contact time and rinse thoroughly. We charge Rs 199 over the groom price for the medicated bath, and we also offer a medicated massage at Rs 799 when a vet has recommended one. Bring the product your vet prescribed, or the exact name, and we will use it as directed.

What to expect after the session

For two or three days after a de-shed, the dog will still lose a little loose fur, which is normal: the session removes the bulk, and the last remnants come out at home. After that, the shedding drops sharply. Double-coated dogs look sleeker immediately, and they stay cooler because the coat can breathe.

If you booked a medicated bath, follow the aftercare the vet gave you. Do not bathe the dog again for the interval the vet advised, and watch for any reaction, though this is rare with a product the vet chose for your dog.

Why pet parents in Sector 109 trust us with shedding season

Pawmiable is on the ground floor of Conscient One Mall, Sector 109, open 10 AM to 9 PM every day, with mall parking and easy access from Dwarka Expressway, Palam Vihar and New Gurgaon. We are rated 4.9 stars on Google. You can watch your dog's session through our glass panel, and we never add a service without confirming it with you first.

De-shedding vs de-matting: know the difference

The two services sound similar and are nothing alike:

The difference

ServiceWhat it doesWhen it is needed
De-sheddingRemoves loose undercoat with a high-velocity dryer and toolsShedding breeds, twice a year and during blows
De-mattingCarefully works out tangles, or shaves badly matted coatsCoats left too long between grooms

De-shedding is maintenance; de-matting is repair. Regular de-shedding prevents most de-matting, which is why the schedule matters. Severely matted coats are shaved close to the skin, and we always explain the options before starting.

The seasonal de-shed plan for Gurgaon

Mark two dates on the calendar and you will beat most of the fur: a de-shedding session in the weeks before summer, and another before the monsoon. Both are when the undercoat blows hardest in Gurgaon, and both are when studio slots fill fastest. A third session mid-winter covers the milder second blow for heavy shedders. Between the big sessions, a bath and groom every 6 to 8 weeks keeps the coat in shape, and the Rs 299 de-shed add-on tops up the routine whenever the house starts telling you it is time.

The bottom line

De-shedding is maintenance, de-matting is repair, and medicated baths support what the vet prescribes. Mark the two big blows, summer and monsoon, book around them, and let the Rs 299 add-on handle everything in between. That is the whole system, and it keeps the fur off your sofa and the skin problems off your dog.

How much does de-shedding cost for dogs in Gurgaon?

Rs 299 as an add-on to any grooming package at Pawmiable. A full groom plus de-shedding starts at Rs 1,198 for the Essential Groom combination.

How often should my dog get de-shedding?

Twice a year for most double-coated breeds, timed before summer and before the monsoon. During heavy shedding windows, every 5 to 6 weeks works well.

Does de-shedding hurt my dog?

No. A high-velocity dryer and de-shedding tools remove loose undercoat only. We never cut the guard coat, and sessions are adapted to the dog's comfort.

Can I get a medicated bath without a vet's advice?

We ask that medicated baths come with a veterinarian's recommendation, because the right product depends on the condition. We are groomers, not vets, and we do not guess.

When is the shedding season in Gurgaon?

Double-coated breeds typically blow coat twice a year, with windows stretching around the hot months and the monsoon. In practice, many Gurgaon dogs shed noticeably most of the year.
